Foreign companies
Liechtenstein company law, codified in the Law on Persons and Companies, dates from 1926 and was amended several times.
The Law on Persons and Companies makes provisions for a wide variety of company forms. However, the most important of these with respect to the role of the Principality of Liechtenstein as an international financial centre are the
foundation, the
establishment and the
stock corporation. Moreover, the Principality of Liechtenstein is the only continental European country to have included the common law
trust in its legal system. Another form is the
registered trust company, which is essentially modelled on the establishment.
While the Law on Persons and Companies makes provision for only a small number of company forms, in comparison to other countries it leaves considerable scope for individual solutions.
In addition to the foundation and administration of Liechtenstein companies and associations, we are also able to offer our clients
foreign companies under the widest possible variety of other jurisdictions like British Virgin Islands, Panama etc.
It is important to note that as a rule the setting up and administration of a foundation or other company is always performed through the trust company. This means that the individual client makes no external appearance, thus ensuring the maximum possible anonymity and
discretion.
